Fashion: Now & Then: Fashion and Culture

In my paper, “Cardi B: Fashion and Sex Work,” I examined the relationship between contemporary fashion and sex work in the music and life of rapper Belcalis Almanzar, aka Cardi B. Citing diverse sources, such as lyrics, social media, and public appearances, I discussed how Almanzar utilizes these two themes in her music while simultaneously asserting and exploring axioms of power as a cultural critic of white capitalism, hyper-masculinity, and sex politics.
